
The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is the oldest drama school in the United Kingdom and offers Speech and Drama training, evaluation and examinations.

Faust and LAMDA
We offer the LAMDA Speech and Drama Examination Courses on a termly basis with a total of 10 hours per term for two terms. Exams take place in May of each year.
LAMDA introductory Examination Course: ages 6 – 7
This introduces students to the LAMDA Examination framework and promotes creative expression in an enjoyable and non-threatening environment. There are a selection of Introductory Examinations available: Introductory, Preparatory and Preliminary. Entry level is dependent on age and ability. Students will need to recite one poem from memory and also initiate a short conversation with the examiner on a pre-determined subject.
Through attending this course students will:
- Develop their confidence and expertise in speaking in front of others
- Learn about voice projection
- Develop their memorisation skills
- Learn how to use body language to support content
- Share thoughts, support their opinions and give and receive feedback
- Choose their performance piece and prepare for their final exam
- Attend a mock examination to prepare themselves for the final examination
LAMDA Graded Examination Course: Ages 8 - 14
This prepares students for the LAMDA Graded Acting Examinations (grades 1-3) and develops the skills needed to communicate dramatic text to an audience. Students will present one scene from the LAMDA Acting Anthology and one solo scene of their own choice.
Through attending this course students will:
- Learn how to explore the style, form, characterisation, subtext and context of a piece and its relevance to a performance and creating a credible sense of reality
- Develop their skills in voice, diction and movement
- Develop their knowledge of the performance process
- Choose their performance piece and prepare for their final exam
- Attend a mock examination to help prepare themselves for the final examination
Classes will take place at our office in Central (17th Floor, Fortune House, 61 Connaught Road, Central) and class size is be limited to a maximum of 6 students. Students taking the Graded Examinations must have had some formal drama experience or education.
We recommend that students register for both terms as registration for the second term is dependent on availability.
Please note, the entrance fee for the examination will be a second, additional cost and parents will be informed when this is needed to be paid. Fees range from HK$200 to HK$500 dependent on the examination taken.
Small Group Tutorials or One to Ones
We also offer courses for students wishing to study for additional LAMDA examinations (Speaking of Verse and Prose, Reading for Performance, Spoken English and Public Speaking). Please contact the office for further information.
