Emma York, Group Leader

Emma York – Group Leader
Emma arrived in Hong Kong nine years ago and has been involved with Faust from day one choreographing, performing, leading workshops and directing. Her recent work includes The Witches, Marvin the Monkey Drummer, Shakespeare: This Is Your Life and Horrid Henry plus larger scale productions such as Around the World in 80 Days, Peter Pan, and Oliver! Emma has taken on various roles herself including Catherine in A View from the Bridge, Trixy in Ionesco’s Rhinoceros, Rosie in Sweet Charity, Beryl in Ayckbourn’s A Talk in the Park, Kathryn in The Taming of The Shrew and Phebe in As You Like It. Emma is a teacher of Speech and Drama as well as director of artistic development for ABA Productions. She is currently working on the Asian Tour of Peter Pan and as well as being kept busy with rehearsals, she also integrates the production with local communities focusing on the educational opportunities provided by live theatre.


	Andy Burt – Group Leader

Andy Burt – Group Leader
Andy Burt has many years’ theatre experience in a wide range of capacities. He has acted principal roles in, among others, The King and I, Richard II, The Merry Widow, Fiddler on the Roof, Rumplestiltskin and Bell Book and Candle, and Wit. Numerous Hong Kong credits as director and conductor include the musical direction of Faust’s Oliver! His plays include L’Énigme de Jérôme Terrail, and A Time of Dreams, and for children, The Tale of the Evil Miss Lentil, Le Château, La Statue, and The Story of Li Yuan. As a teacher, he has taken his theatre students to perform in China, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Indonesia.  He has also designed the lighting for productions at many of Hong Kong’s theatres as well as for several schools.


Alice H Beaver – Group Leader

Alice H Beaver – Group Leader
Alice H. Beaver is a teacher, writer, and performer. She has been teaching theatre for the past six years. She earned a BA in Theatre Arts from Rollins College and a MFA in Theatre for Youth from Arizona State University. She also attended Stella Adler Conservatory in NYC and RADA in London for acting. She worked as a teaching artist for Childsplay, a well-know children’s theatre in the States and for Khalsa Montessori School in Phoenix, AZ. She wrote and directed, ILE/IHE: A Tale of Communication, which toured to local secondary schools. Currently, she is on tour with Bgbox Theatre’s Word Up! She is thrilled to be working for Faust!

Catherine Marsden – Assistant Leader

Catherine Marsden – Group Leader
Catherine belongs to a family of educators and artists. At school she was a dance group leader, costume designer, choreographer, scriptwriter and director of plays.. She has also worked as a professional singer and voice coach. She moved to Dongguan City in China five years ago teaching English and Drama in bilingual kindergartens and started a theatre arts class. She produced children’s stage plays with original stories such as The Lion is ill, (1st. Prize China Youth English Skills Competition), The Forgiving Sun, (1st Prize Dongcheng District Inter-school Drama Competition), and many others. Since moving to Hong Kong in 2008 she has been teaching English drama, stage play and radio show scriptwriting to secondary school students. She is a dedicated teacher committed to bring out the best in every child.


Jacqueline Donaldson – Group Leader

Jacqueline Donaldson – Group Leader
Jacqueline is a graduate of film and photography with a TEFL Diploma from the UK. She has extensive experience teaching drama and English to students from 2 to 60 years old! She has also helped to produce theatre productions for the Faust Festival, acted with various theatre groups and directed short films. Her other passions are traveling and photography. She has spent time in many Asian countries such as Pakistan, India, Vietnam and Cambodia, interacting with local people and learning about their culture.

Lisa Tang – Group Leader

Lisa Tang – Group Leader
Lisa completed her Early Childhood Education Certificate in Vancouver Canada. She also studied Drama while in Canada. She specialises in early childcare education and has taught young children since September 1996. Lisa joined Faust in February 2004 and directed her first Faust Festival performance in 2005 with the children in her groups. She also leads Faust groups with our youngest learners. Lisa loves teaching young children through drama and sees herself as a positive role model for the children.

Jodi Gilchrist – Group Leader

Jodi Gilchrist – Group Leader
Jodi graduated with honours from Cambridge University, majoring in Geography and Physical Education. She has taught at FIS and was also a P.E. teacher at HKIS Primary School before she produced twins. She is also a keen sportswoman, often running, playing tennis and golf, although not at the same time. She pursues dancing as a hobby and loves musicals that inspire her to dance. She appeared as the milkmaid in Oliver!, the pirate Skylights in Peter Pan and the judge in Around the World in 80 Days. She co-directed several successful Faust shows, A Christmas Carol and Matilda and recently made her solo directing debut in The Happy Prince for Faust.

Jenny Lee – Group Leader

Jenny Lee – Group Leader
Born in South Korea and raised in Hong Kong, Jenny participated in many school and community productions from a young age. She recently performed as a dancer in Kiss Me Kate, took on a lead role in a HKAPA short film, and served as Choreographer for Faust's production of Alice in Wonderland. She is also very active in her church youth group as a performer, director and organiser of productions. Jenny is passionate about Jazz Dance and Musical Theatre and is delighted to be working with young children on movement skills.

Keon Woong Lee - Group Leader
Keon Woong Lee – Group Leader
Keon Woong Lee is a graduate from the University of Hong Kong, majoring in English and Comparative literature. During the past five years with Faust, Keon wrote and directed several well received plays including Jabberwocky, Anansi, The Tabloid Truth, Life Under the Big Top! and Kip Marlowe. He also performed in Identity Crisis, a series of one-act plays (ACT, 2003), Beyond the Horizon (Theater Impromptu, 2002) and most recently in Ten 3, a festival of 10 minute plays (HK Players, 2006). He also had his poems published in Yuan Yang HKU’s Literary Journal. His most recent accomplishments include directing Faust’s sell-out productions of A Christmas Carol and Matilda as well as being Production Manager for The Happy Prince. He is also a Creative Writing teacher for Faust and enjoys teaching students the nuts and bolts of telling stories.

 
Jessica McClellan, Group Leader
Jessica McClellan – Group Leader
Jessica discovered her love for drama in early primary school, and ever since has been performing, designing and writing for the theatre. After graduating in the top of her Drama class at ‘A’ level, she went on to complete her degree in Drama and Media Arts at the University of Surrey, England. Her performance experience ranges from playing Michael in Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me (Frank McGuinness) to Spoonface in Spoonface Steinberg (Lee Hall). She has also designed the lighting for Mother (devised by St. Mary’s Students) and 4.48 Psychosis (Sarah Kane), which she also stage-managed. Since returning to Hong Kong in 2003, Jessica has been teaching drama and running workshops at both primary and high school level.

 
Amanda Burton, Group Leader
Amanda Burton – Group Leader
Amanda has worked with Faust intermittently for the last seven years, working her way up from Student Leader to Group Leader. Born and bred in Hong Kong, Amanda developed a love for theatre at an early age, when she was offered a role in the chorus of a Pantomime. Since then, her involvement in theatre in Hong Kong has expanded considerably. Having completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Studies at Lancaster University in 2009, she has a keen interest in all disciplines of performance and is always eager to further her education where possible. Amanda can generally been found in any role in the theatre, whether as a performer, backstage crew or even as a make-up artist. She was last seen in the Hong Kong Singer’s Oliver, though was unrecognisable playing the role Old Sally, which added an additional 50 years to her 23!

Having spent the past year travelling around the world, Amanda has returned to Hong Kong, to gain invaluable teaching experience, before she heads to the UK to do a PGCE in Secondary drama. She is excited to be working with Faust again and wishes all new and returning students a fantastic year!
